Identities - Week 2

Here I began making my own collages, focusing on juxtaposing fashion models with headline news. I believe that by doing this people are less likely to pay attention to the headline, or at the very least just give it a quick thought; this therefore proves my belief that modern society is extremely shallow and take most things at face value.

By the end of the week I realised that I was focusing largely on feminist ideals and headlines - this was mainly due to a feminism column in the women's magazine Elle. Whilst the adverts in this article boasted how women shouldn't be categorised, throughout the entire magazine were images of thin, tall, statuesque women. Also the title of the article "Rebranding Feminism" was also very contradicting, as if women would only be interested in feminism if it was made "stylish".
